Death comes to my floor ... update

Here’s what the door across the hall from us looks like now. I feel so sorry for our neighbor who blithely sublet his apartment and now has the stench of death sealed in to his home by the City of New York. I wonder if he was paid up front …I mean, if you sublet your apartment in good faith and then the person who agrees to rent it doesn’t survive the term, who pays the rent?
